Ministry

Establishing a culture of care

In church or para-church organizations, there can be a need to provide care on a daily (or sometimes hourly) basis.  Lacking training, staff and volunteers are left to face difficult situations and other’s pain without the necessary skills to both fully care for the hurting person and to protect themselves.

The worst thing we can do as the church isn’t not helping someone with a need.  It is having someone walk away from an interaction in worse shape than when they got there, feeling unloved, not heard, and alone.  Without appropriate training, the church can hurt the very people they are trying to assist.
Anyone leading a group will benefit from having the skills necessary to communicate with their participants in a way that ensures understanding.
